The Philadelphia 76ers look to extend their winning streak to three games as they take on the disappointing San Antonio Spurs at home.
At 9-5 the Philadelphia 76ers are starting to look like the team that can make a deep playoff run. Their opponent, the San Antonio Spurs, look more like a lottery team than a club that has been in the playoffs for the past 22 straight seasons with a current record of 5-10. Despite one of the teams in this matchup struggling, there are still plenty of players to watch for in this contest.
Josh Richardson and Trey Burke are listed as questionable for the Sixers, per Rich Hofmann of The Athletic. For the Spurs, only point guard Derrick White is questionable for the contest, according to Jeff Garcia of News 4 San Antonio.
Bryn Forbes
Big stars like LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan aren’t on this list for the Spurs, but fourth year shooting guard Bryn Forbes is and for good reason. Forbes is having the best season of his young career. He’s averaging a career high 14.5 points, while shooting 38.7 percent from the 3-point line.
He’s third in scoring for the Spurs only behind DeRozan and Aldridge respectively. Forbes is also third in 3-point percentage for San Antonio with Patty Mills and White ahead of him. Forbes has quietly become a very important piece to the Spurs future at the age of 26-years-old.
Forbes might be in for a big night against the Sixers. Richardson (if he plays) will most likely be guarding Dejounte Murray and Simmons will most likely defending DeRozan. That means that Tobias Harris will have to guard Forbes and while Harris has been solid defensively so far this season, he’s the weakest defender out of the starting five. Which, in-turn, may give Forbes a chance to have a good game.
