Tobias Harris — More threes
This has been an overwhelmingly positive season for Tobias Harris. He’s the second-leading scorer behind Embiid, his defense has improved lightyears over last season, and his role has a halfcourt scorer has proven essential to Philadelphia’s success, both short-term and long-term.
In the end, there isn’t too much to nitpick. Harris is a genuinely good player, a deserving All-Star candidate, and is presently someone living up to a controversial $180 million payday. If anything, Harris simply needs to embrace his greatest strength.
Despite a dip in percentages since joining the Sixers, all indications point to Harris as an elite three-point shooter. His role has changed considerably since L.A.C., but the Sixers need Harris to space the floor and hit open threes. He, for the most part, does that.
The Sixers would still benefit from increased volume. There are countless examples of Harris showing hesitation at the three-point line. He often passes up in-rhythm shots for one or two-dribble pull-ups, or quick forays to the paint. In the Sixers’ ideal ecosystem, he lets in fly more often.
