Philadelphia 76ers All-Decade Starting Five
Center: Joel Embiid
By: Ashley Foltz
I mean, really, who else would you choose as the best Sixers center this decade? Jahlil Okafor? Nerlens Noel? Spencer Hawes? Joel Embiid (aka “JoJo”) is not only the center but the player, that the 76ers have dreamed of having as their future.
The 7-foot Cameroon native has been a beacon of light ever since Philly had drafted him. Even though his injuries delayed his career out of the University of Kansas, the desperate Sixers fans had something to look forward too.
Once he stepped on the court in the red, white, and blue jersey, Philly (and NBA) fans were cultivated by JoJo. He’s accumulated the following accolades: two-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA, two-time All-Defensive, and 2016-2017 All-Rookie.
In his 187 games played so far this season, he is averaging 24.2 points, 1.9 blocks, 3.2 assists, 11.6 rebounds, 8.1 made field goals, and 1.2 made three-pointers. He’s been a threat not only on the defensive end, but on the offensive end as well. Not many players of his stature can shoot the three-ball the way that Embiid can.
Sixers fans treasure Embiid as a God gift from heaven (as they should). He has given this city and franchise an enormous amount of hope for this season and the future. It’s really only the beginning for the big man of Philly.
