Shooting guard: Jrue Holiday

By: Lucas Johnson

Technically, Jrue Holiday was the Sixers point guard of the future when he was a rookie in the 2009-10 season. However, do to his ability to play shooting guard as well, plus his importance to the 76ers this past decade, he was slotted in as the two-guard on this All-Decade starting five.

Holiday was the early symbol of hope for Philly in the beginning part of the 2010’s. He showed promise as a rookie and he as able to grow from that. He made the All-Star team in his fourth season, while averaging a career high 8.0 assists per game.

At times, Holiday had the carry the Sixers. Outside of Iguodala, who was showing signs that he was about to exit his prime, Holiday didn’t have any help. Elton Brand wasn’t a scoring threat, Thaddeus Young was solid, but wasn’t going put on a scoring clinic and Evan Turner couldn’t figure things out. When with Philly, Holiday averaged 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.4 steals from 2009-2013.

When Holiday was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, it was the first major move for 76ers becoming a rebuilding team for the next several seasons. Holiday was not only import for Philly to begin the decade because of his play, but also because trading him kicked started “The Process”.
