It wasn’t a good week for the Philadelphia 76ers or their rookies, but their rookie big man struggled the most out of the active first year players.

The Philadelphia 76ers are currently experiencing the worst losing streak of the season in which they are loser of their past four games. In the midst of this streak, the rookies didn’t play particularly well this past week.

As expected, Matisse Thybulle still hasn’t played yet due to his injury. There should be update about his condition in the near future, although there’s not at the present moment. Once he’s healthy, he should return to the normal bench rotation.

More from Sixers News

Out of all the Sixers rookies, Marial Shayok had the best week. However, that’s not saying too much. He played in two games with the 76ers G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. He had 21 points on 21 shots against the Maine Red Claws. He finished with 22 points on 18 attempts from the floor against the Long Island Nets. In terms of efficiency, Shayok struggled this past week. On a positive note, he’s the only rookie that played in multiple games.

Undrafted

It’s fair to say that out of all the games that Norvel Pelle has played significant minutes for Philly this season, his outing against the Indian Pacers was the worst one of his rookie year thus far. He ended the contest with three points, three rebounds, one assist, one block and four fouls, while going 1-3 from the field.

In fairness to Pelle, he was going against the duo of talented big men in Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner. As a rookie, Pelle will experience some rough nights, but this isn’t anything to be concerned about at the moment.

The Philadelphia 76ers rookies didn’t have an easy week. Thybulle is still injured, Shayok had struggles with efficiency and Pelle struggle against legit competition. Hopefully Thybulle is healed soon, Shayok breaks his slump and Pelle can improve from his tough outing.
