Furkan Korkmaz

By: Ashley Foltz

Furkan Korkmaz unexpectedly came into this season. That’s it. That’s the sentence. No one was even expecting him to come back to Philly this season after he requested a trade last season.

“This new year I’d love to see a little bit more consistency from Korkmaz.”

He quickly became a trusted bench player for Brett Brown to use in the rotation to get some shots up and hit a couple of threes. After Korkmaz hit the game-winning three, with 0.4 seconds left against the Trail Blazers, after being down 21 points at most, it showed that the Turkish baller could hit meaningful shots.

From that game on, he had some hot nights and some not so hot nights. It seemed the bright yellow sneakers had lost their magic touch on those off nights for him. This new year I’d love to see a little bit more consistency from Korkmaz.

I know that we could probably say that from everyone, but he seems to be one of the more streaky players on the Sixers. I want to see Korkmaz out there making smart shots and bring energy to the team on a more consistent basis.
