Al Horford

There’s one New Year’s resolution for Al Horford and that’s to not let father time catch up with him. At the age of 33, Horford has been showing signs of slowing down as of late. December was a horrible month for the big man.

In the last month of 2019, Horford averaged 9.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists, while making 40.1 percent of his field goals and 33.3 percent of his 3-pointers. Part of his issues are his fit in Brown’s scheme, as well as his fit with Joel Embiid.

The two just don’t look like they fit on the court. If it were 10 or 20 years ago, this would be a match made in heaven, but it’s very hard to make two legit big men work well together this season. However, Horford has had the ability to guard the perimeter and stretch the floor in the past.

The Sixers need Horford to recapture that ability if they want to make a deep playoff run. If he doesn’t and father time has really caught up to him, then the 76ers are doomed. He needs to fight off any signs of deterioration to his game. If not, then he could be one of the worse free agent signing in Philly’s recent franchise history.
