New Years Resolution for Ben Simmons: Stay Aggressive Consistently
How could anyone come up with a New Years resolution for Ben Simmons? I mean, he is so perfectly well-rounded and it’s not like there’s one glaring weakness to his game or anything like that.
In all seriousness, I know what everyone is thinking – we want Simmons to start shooting. Mid-range, three-point, free-throws, doesn’t matter. Just shoot. For me, it’s even more simple than that. My New Years resolution for Ben Simmons is to just be more consistently aggressive on offense – and develop more of a killer instinct.
Simmons has become one of the best defenders in the NBA this season, but if he applies that aggression to the offensive end in the form of pushing the pace, attacking the rim, absorbing contact and getting to the free throw line consistently, it will open his offensive game up so much more.
Obviously, I would love to see Simmons attempt more jump shots. For now, I simply want to see him consistently attack the rim with purpose and aggression and either finish strong, get fouled, or kick out to open shooters. We’ve seen Ben Simmons at his best when he plays with an aggressive mindset and this year I just want him to play that way night in and night out.
It’d also be nice if he could take a couple jump shots every now and then, too.
