Tobias Harris
By: Alex Fidanza
Tobias Harris is playing some of his basketball of his career. With J.J. Redick and Butler on the team last year, Harris had no plays ran for him and was the fourth or fifth option on the team. Their departure allowed Harris to have a bigger role on the team and be that second scoring threat next to Embiid.
He is averaging a career high in field goal attempts and he’s scoring very efficiently with a 56.6 true shooting percentage. Harris is also playing the best defense of his career. It may not show in the stat sheet, but the eye test certainly shows how engaged Harris is on defense.
With all the improvements made over the year with the Sixers, there are two resolutions where Harris can improve. The first one is his three-point shooting. Ever since joining the Sixers, he has hit a lot of cold stretches and sometimes looks very reluctant to shoot. Hopefully, he can find the same success of shooting like he had with the Clippers when he shot over 40 percent from three.
The second resolution would be for Harris to be that closer the Sixers so desperately need. He has shown glimpses of him taking over, but never when it matters most. Too many times we see Harris miss shots more than usual in the clutch, and it would be nice to have some insurance when we give the ball to Harris.
If Harris can get improve his three point shot slightly, and take that closer role; then the Sixers will be a in a good position to succeed in 2020.
