Marial Shayok

Mairal Shayok has been better than advertised so far in his time with the Delaware Blue Coats of the G-League. Shayok is currently averaging 23.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists this season in 14 games. His resolution from me would be to be more active on the defense end.

Although that is more of an eye test and tough to measure, it can be done. The G-League is filled with guys who play carelessly more so than there are careless players in the NBA. Shayok could capitalize on this by upping the amount of steals, blocks or deflections he gets. A small uptick in any of those may allow him to get noticed by the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Sixers are team that prides itself on defense and lacks offensive creation. If Shayok does more of what they like, then he could be called up to the NBA to earn some minutes. Having Shayok’s scoring prowess would help the Sixers more than it would hurt. All in all, buckling down on the defensive end while keeping your scorer mentality should do Marial Shayok wonders.
