Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers interested in point guard Derrick Rose
It’s been rumored that the Philadelphia 76ers have an interest in acquiring a former MVP point guard to improve their roster.
The Philadelphia 76ers have several needs entering this NBA Trade Deadline. One of the things the Sixers need the upgrade is the backup point guard position. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the Sixers are interested in trading for point guard Derrick Rose.
It should be noted that the 76ers aren’t the only team interested in the form MVP. The Los Angeles Lakers are also listed as a potential suitor along with other teams with title hopes. The Los Angeles Clippers were listed as another team that has made some inquires about the veteran playmaker in Haynes’ article.
This is exciting for me personally, as I wrote about why Philly should target Rose before the trade deadline. He can create his own shot and can be a closer late in games, those are two things that Philly desperate needs. He could play along side Ben Simmons which is a plus and might also be a nice half court scoring option along side Joel Embiid.

Rose has been averaging around 18 points and six assists, while converting around 50 percent of his field goals and 31 percent of his 3-pointers this season. He should be in the running for Sixth Man of the Year based on his play thus far.
Sadly, Rose isn’t a perfect fit on the Sixers and Ryan Callahan of The Sixer Sense made a case against adding Rose in the past. Callahan made the argument that the Sixers don’t have enough assets to trade for the 31-year-old point guard and that Rose’s skills don’t fit with head coach Brett Brown’s system.

It may not matter if you’re pro- or anti- Rose at this point, because it appears that Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand and the rest of the front office have an interest in the former MVP. Whether or not a deal gets done is yet to be seen, but the interest is rumored to be their now.
