The Philadelphia 76ers just found another player that can contribute in a playoff setting and he’s been on their bench for the past two years.

The injury to Josh Richardson could have been a major loss for the Philadelphia 76ers. However, over the course this past week, Shake Milton has stepped up in Richardson’s place and has shown everyone that he shouldn’t be stuck in the G-League moving forward. His play has earned him this “Player of the Week” award.

In Milton’s first start in place of Richardson, he had a major contribution in an unexpected area in the Sixers victory against Los Angeles Lakers. He finished with seven points, nine rebounds, three assists, one steal, one turnover and two fouls, while making 3-5 shots from the field, 1-3 shots from the 3-point line and 0-2 from the foul line. The nine rebounds are a career high (per RealGM) for Milton and he was the second leading rebounder in the whole game.

Milton reached double-digit scoring for the second time this season in the win against the Golden State Warriors. He had 11 points, one rebound, two assists, one steal, two turnovers and three fouls, while converting 5-6 field goal attempts and 50.0 percent of his two 3-pointers.

Despite the 76ers losing to the Atlanta Hawks, Milton had a career night. He ended the game with 27 points, five rebounds, six assists, one steal, one turnover and four fouls, while shooting 7-12 from the floor, 5-9 from downtown and 80.0 percent on 10 foul shots. He reached new career highs in both points and assists in this game. This might be a glimpse of Milton’s true potential as a player.

Honorable Mention

Raul Neto gets this week’s “Honorable Mention” as he just caught fire against the Warriors, especially in the first half, in which he had 19 points. These past three games, he averaged 9.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steal, 0.3 steals, 1.7 turnovers and 3.3 fouls.

Milton took full advantage of Richardson’s absence and shined. He’s made a real good case for consistent minutes moving forward. This week, Milton averaged 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.0 steal, 1.3 turnovers and 3.3 fouls. The Philadelphia 76ers should continue to see what Milton can do heading forward.
