Grading the Philadelphia 76ers’ 2020 trade deadline.

The 2020 NBA trade deadline has come and gone for the Philadelphia 76ers. Out are James Ennis, who was sent to Orlando, and Trey Burke, who was waived. In are Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III, two wings who played regular minutes in Golden State’s depleted rotation.

Both Burks and Robinson are expected to assume significant roles in the Sixers’ second unit. Burks especially stands out — he’s averaging a career-high 16.1 points per game on the season. The Sixers needed shooters and playmakers, which this deal provides.

In exchange for two playable wings, the Sixers sent three future second-round picks to Golden State. Given Philadelphia’s abundance of second-rounders, not to mention Elton Brand‘s strange obsession with trading them for cash, it could have been worse.

As for Ennis, he was traded to Orlando for the Lakers’ 2020 second-round pick. It is to some degree a salary dump, as he has a player option for next season, but above all else, it was a move to create roster spots for Burks and Robinson. Waiving Burke was the final move.

The Sixers now have a 15-man roster in tact as the season’s second half comes into focus. There is still room for moves on the buyout market, as Jonah Bolden and Kyle O’Quinn are easily cuttable, but for now, the roster is set.

Let’s hand out the report card.
