Solutions

Everything going on with Embiid mentally and physically should raise red flags for both head coach Brett Brown and general manager Elton Brand. Luckily, there’s several things they can do to help their franchise center.

The first thing is to move Horford to the bench, which may happen soon according Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier Times. Moving Horford to the bench and adding in any of the perimeter players on the bench into the starting five will open up so much more space for both Embiid and Simmons. Having Horford on the bench means you can load manage both to averaging less than 30 minutes a game each.

Speaking of Simmons, Brown has to start putting more pressure on the point guard to take outside shots. Brown has failed in his attempts so far, so maybe it’s time to ramp up the pressure. If Simmons at least attempts them, it should go even further in solving the spacing issues, thus opening up more space for the big man.

Both mental and physical health are important to the game of basketball and fixing both for Embiid is important. Making life easier for the All-Star center should result in more success and a happier Embiid, which is what the Philadelphia 76ers should want for the rest of the season.
