If Embiid is going to be traded from Philadelphia, here are the things that Brand should want in return. Drat picks, young players and usable veterans. If he can’t get those then there’s no point of even entertaining trading Embiid to the Heat.

According to RealGM, Miami may not have a pick to trade until at least 2025 or as late as 2027 based on other deals they’ve made in the past. Embiid is a franchise level player and would require multiple picks to acquire him. The fact is, Miami won’t be able to send picks for a while would probably be a no go in any trade.

Another thing that Philly would want in an Embiid trade would be is young players. Probably shooters to surround Simmons. That means the Heat would have to give up both Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro, which is a steep price to pay.

Both are young marksmen in the NBA and as much Philly would like them in a potential deal, the Heat may want to retain both young players. If the Heat could pull off a trade to land Embiid, then they would want to keep both young wings to help spacing for the All-Star big man and Bulter. Those two players could be deal-breakers in any potential deal.

They also have a veteran shooter in stretch big Kelly Olynyk who is under contract for next year, but alone he won’t be enough to get Embiid.
