The Mavericks are set in the frontcourt and, to an extent, in the backcourt, although another playmaker could help ease the burden for Luka Doncic. In this instance, the Mavs load up on wing depth. Saddiq Bey is a home-run at the No. 20 spot.
Listed at 6-foot-8, Bey has genuine size and switchability on the defensive end. He’s also an elite shooter, both standstill and on the move. Dallas has one of the league’s most prolific shot creators in Doncic, and Bey is a good candidate to benefit from such a partnership.
Dallas is on the verge of contender status. Doncic is a top-10 player in the league, a borderline MVP candidate, and he will only get better. Bey fills the NBA’s most valuable niche, and he’s someone who is ready-made to contribute as a rookie.
