NBA Draft 2020: Mock Draft 1.0

The conversation around Isaac Okoro typically revolves around “winning plays.” The Timberwolves need winning players — desperately. Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell, and Malik Beasley is a terrific offensive triage, but the defense is atrocious. Okoro can help fill gaps on the wing.

At 18 years old, Okoro already shows flashes of elite defense. He’s a pest on-ball, a smart team defender, and has tremendous athletic tools at 6-foot-6. He can defend up and down the positional chart, and he will only gain versatility as his frame fills out.

The Wolves won’t be able to count on Okoro for much offensively. He’s a plus athlete, cuts strong to the rim, and can hit the occasional spot three, but his mechanics are clunky. It won’t matter much, however. Offense isn’t an area of need for Minnesota.
