In terms of having a productive week or making headlines, the Philadelphia 76ers’ rookies failed to do that in this Rookie Report.

In last week’s rookie report, it was clear that the additions of Glenn Robinson III and Alec Burks were going to have a negative effect on the Philadelphia 76ers‘ rookies playing time. This week made it clear just how much their arrival has impacted the team’s first-year players.

20th pick, 2019

Matisse Thybulle has probably been impacted the most by the arrivals of Robinson and Burks. He had a very quiet week. He played in both of the Sixers games, but only collected one rebound, one assist, one steal and two fouls in both contests. He failed to make any of his three shot attempts during the two games. While Thybulle’s still in the rotation, it’s becoming clear he won’t be an essential piece of it moving forward.

54th pick, 2019

Marial Shayok only played in one game for the Delaware Blue Coats, the 76ers G-League affiliate, this past week. Sadly, he didn’t impress. He only scored 16 points on 6-19 shooting against the Canton Charge. This certainly not one of the best games that Shayok has had this season.

Undrafted

Norvel Pelle struggled offensively in the one game he did play in this past week against the Milwaukee Bucks. He finished with two points, four rebounds two blocks, one foul and one turnover, while making 1-4 shots from the field. Defensively he was solid, but that’s to be somewhat expected of the big man. It’s on offense he has to start showing improvement when he gets playing time.

It was overall a quiet week of production for the Philadelphia 76ers’ rookies. Despite the decreased roles that they have, they need to still show they can be efficient when they get playing time moving forward.
