In the first month of 2020, the Philadelphia 76ers saw the emergence of one of their young stars entering superstardom with his impressive play.
Injuries will always be a part of the NBA, that was true for the Philadelphia 76ers in the month of January. The beginning of 2020 saw one of the Sixers stars emerge thanks in part to injuries to the roster. Despite the injuries, Philly still had an 8-5 record in January.
Like in December’s Player Rankings, there were some changes to the rotation, but that had to do more with the injuries that occurred. That being said, there were some players that took full advantage of their extra playing time. One in particular shine espeically bright.
17. Marial Shayok
January Stats: None
Previous ranking: 17th
Sadly, Marial Shayok was the only Sixers player this past month that failed to get any playing time in the NBA. Considering the number of injuries that Philly experienced during January, it was surprising to see that Shayok didn’t make his NBA debut to begin the new year.
16. Jonah Bolden
January Stats: GP 2| MINS 4.5| FG% 50.0| 3P% 0.0| TRB 0.5| PF 2.0| TOV 0.5| PTS 1.0
Previous ranking: 15th
After not playing for the Sixers at all during December, Bolden suited up for two games to begin 2020. However, it was clear that Bolden is still dealing with his foul problems as he had four fouls in nine minutes against the Brooklyn Nets. His poor choices on the defensive end are the main reason why he didn’t crack the rotation.
