The best rookie on the Philadelphia 76ers was finally able to break out of a recent shooting slump he had been experiencing.

It was a tough week for the Philadelphia 76ers as they lose both Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to a back and shoulder injury respectively and sadly the rookies didn’t make too much noise either. Despite lack of flash from this group of first-year players, one rookie was able to break his recent shooting woes.

It should be noted the game against the Los Angeles Clippers won’t be included in this report.

20th pick, 2019

Going into the previous week, Matisse Thybulle went scoreless for three straight games, but he was able to score in the past two games. He was scoreless in the first game of this week against the Atlanta Hawks, but scored four points against the Cleveland Cavaliers and six points against the New York Knicks. With both Simmons and Embiid out, an argument can be made that Thybulle is the team’s best active defender and they will need him to play as such.

54th pick, 2019

Sadly, Marial Shayok had uneven performances with Sixers G-League team, the Delaware Blue Coats, this past week. He scored 33 points in the first game against the Wiscon Herd, 16 points in the second game against the Herd and 25 points against the Windy City Bulls. Consistency is something that Shayok needs to continue to work on.

Undrafted

Despite the injury to Embiid, Norvel Pelle didn’t see any game action this past week. Part of the reason was due to the fact that he was dealing with an illness (subscription needed for link) this past week that keep him out of two games. Now that he’s healthy, the Sixers might call on him to help at the center spot until Embiid returns.

Next. Time for Richardson to end his slump. dark

It wasn’t a spectacular week for the Philadelphia 76ers rookies, but it was nice to see that Thybulle was able to get back on the right track.
