Philadelphia 76ers: Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest NBA player of all-time
Conclusion
So to be called the greatest player of all time, you should have to be able to excel at all facets of the game.
Could Wilt score? Check
Could Wilt rebound? Check
Could Wilt be a terror on defense? Check
Could Wilt pass? Check
Were Wilt’s teams always winners: Check
Has anyone come close to accomplishing what Wilt did: Nope (with the possible exception of Kobe Bryant‘s 81-point game)
Remember, Chamberlain started his career three years later than current NBA stars due to the NCAA eligibility rules at the time and ended it early due to a contract problem. Who knows what records Chamberlain would have set, or titles gained, if he had those additional years.
The bottom line is no player, even if they wanted to, could emulate what Chamberlain did on the court. You could argue how he applied his incredible skills, but one thing is not in doubt: Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest basketball player of all time.
