3. Devin Vassell, Florida State

Another fairly obvious fit, Devin Vassell fits the 3-and-D mold so many NBA teams worship. He’s a lanky 6-foot-7 with the defensive facilities to cross positions on a regular basis. He’s also a knockdown shooter, especially in catch-and-shoot situations. The Sixers take pride in their ability to generate catch-and-shoot looks.

Vassell has spent all season rocketing up big boards. Heck, had Florida State had the luxury of a big run in March, he might have found himself out of Philadelphia’s range entirely. He’s currently projected in the mid-teens, however, and he’s a very Sixers-y prospect.

The Sixers have several dynamic defenders on the roster. Simmons, Embiid, Josh Richardson, Matisse Thybulle — all create havoc and induce chaos for opposing offenses. Vassell is more of the same. He will tally his share of steals and blocks if given the opportunity, using every bit of his 6-foot-10 wingspan.

He’s not a great athlete, but Vassell can handle the ball in a pinch and his complementary skills are too good not to generate interest from current NBA contenders. The Sixers need ready-made contributors, and Vassell has the look of one.
