Sixers: Ben Simmons reads comment about trading for Devin Booker
The Philadelphia 76ers star point guard reads aloud a potential trade suggestion on his Twitch stream, but how should fans take it?
NBA players have been finding fun things to do during this NBA hiatus caused by the coronavirus. Philadelphia 76ers franchise point guard Ben Simmons has been streaming on the Twitch app while he plays video games. What’s been an interesting result from that is that Simmons read one interesting comment. The tweet below contains a clip from his stream which reveals what he read.
That’s right, out of all the comments he could have read aloud, he read the one about trading for Devin Booker, star shooting guard of the Phoenix Suns. There’s a lot to dissect from this one read aloud comment.
After he initially said what he read, he half-heartedly lamented that he was just reading the comment. Obviously the comment caught his eye and appeared to gain his interest on some level, or else he wouldn’t have ignored it. Could he have been hinting to something or just reading it aloud to get everyone fired up, as Adam Hermann of NBCSPhilly.com had suggested? Honestly, probably only Simmons knows that for sure.

Still, he put the thought out there and adding a legit third All-Star to this Sixers roster is beyond interesting. Booker is one of the better sharpshooters in today’s game but has been stuck in Phoenix where he has yet to make the playoffs and has only one All-Star appearance, which appeared to be because Damian Lillard got injured and suggested Booker take his place.
If Booker becomes disgruntled with the Suns and asks to be traded, he’s definitely someone the Sixers could target. Adding a shooter of Booker’s pedigree to the core of Simmons and Joel Embiid would fix a lot of Philly’s spacing issues.
It’s not completely clear if Simmons intentionally put the idea of the Philadelphia 76ers trading for Booker out there and endorses it. However, it’s out there now and it’s an interesting idea that the Sixers front office should evaluate during this extended hiatus.
