If Devin Booker truly becomes a target of the Philadelphia 76ers, it’s important to determine just how well the All-Star would fit on the team.
Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons recently read a fan’s comment about trading for Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker on a video stream. If the All-Star shooting guard does become available, then it’s important to determine just how well he would fit on the Sixers.
In the first article I wrote about on this subject, I briefly touched on how his shooting would help the duo of Simmons and center Joel Embiid with floor spacing. However, that short explanation doesn’t really explain the full depth of how he can help Philly and determining his potential fit on the roster.
It’s also important to determine what the roster would look like after a post-Booker trade. With that in mind, the hypothetical 3-team trade I recently wrote about will be used to determine roster construction in a world where Booker is on the Sixers.
In that proposed trade the 76ers sent Al Horford, Zhaire Smith, and two 2020 second round picks to the Sacramento Kings. The Kings sent Phoenix Buddy Hield and the Sixers sent the Suns three future unprotected first round picks.
That would mean the new starting five for Philly would most likely be Simmons, Booker, Josh Richardson, Tobias Harris, and Embiid if this trade happen during this offseason. The bench would still have Shake Milton, Furkan Korkmaz, Mike Scott, and Matisse Thybulle based on who has a contract next year.
Understanding who will probably be on the roster if Booker arrives is important in figuring out his fit and role on the 76ers. This analysis will also be made working under the assumption that Brett Brown will be retained as the head coach entering next season so that there is a basis of what type of schemes, offensive sets, and rotations to expect.
