The Wizards are still hanging on to false hope of a John Wall–Bradley Beal pairing. At some point, it will be time to move on — probably from Beal, given his status as an immensely tradeable asset. When the rebuild inevitably starts, Tyrese Haliburton would be a useful piece to have.
Haliburton spent his entire sophomore season rising up draft boards. He’s not an explosive playmaker, but he is both highly efficient and highly intelligent. Haliburton is a patient, measured creator who can fit next to a more dynamic playmaker, such as Wall or Beal.
Washington is a strangely constructed roster without a ton of real, proven NBA talent. Haliburton doesn’t have the highest ceiling, but he has a high floor and a skill set designed to impact winning. He wouldn’t have any issue endearing himself to D.C. fans.
