The Warriors don’t seem particularly high on James Wiseman, and understandably so. The Warriors, however, are slotted No. 1 in most hypotheticals — not fifth. If the lottery deals Golden State a rotten hand, it’s difficult to imagine Wiseman falling much further than this.

Golden State doesn’t have a clear area of need when healthy. This is a bonafide title contender. Center is, however, the Warriors’ weakest position, and Wiseman would have a non-zero chance of joining Steve Kerr‘s loaded starting five.

Wiseman has a lot to prove on both ends, but he’s a skilled interior scorer and a dynamic 7-foot-1 athlete. On paper, Wiseman should have no trouble developing into a high-end rim protector. He will need to develop the fundamentals and patience necessary to acquire such a label, but from an athletic standpoint, few prospects are more tantalizing than Wiseman. He’s a specimen.
