Possibly drafting SGA in 2018

If the Philadelphia 76ers were to take Tatum over Fultz, then that would still level a hole on the perimeter moving forward. Having another ball-handler guard would be nice considering that Tatum is more of a wing. The easiest way to fill that hole is would have been in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Originally, the Sixers had the 10th pick, via the Los Angeles Lakers, and chose Mikal Bridges at that spot only to turn around and trade him for Zhaire Smith, the 16th pick and a future first rounder. The move at this point appears to be a mistake as Smith has barely played for the Sixers up to this point and Bridges is an important role player with the Phoenix Suns.

However, if Tatum is still on the 76ers and they would have a need for another playmaker on the perimeter. In that situation, they may not even take Bridges at the 10th spot, but instead take Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA).

The 6-foot-5 combo guard has been one of the steals of that draft, as he was originally picked at the 11th spot. This season, SGA has averaged 19.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.1 steals, while making 47.3 percent of his shots from the floor and 35.1 percent of his attempts from downtown.

SGA, is a versatile defender and is more than capable of playing off the ball, just ask Chris Paul. SGA seems like an ideal player to pair with Simmons, Embiid, and Tatum based on his skills and what the 76ers would be lacking at that junction.

Drafting Tatum in 2017 might make Philly target SGA in the following draft. Having Tatum, SGA, Simmons, and Embiid might have set up the Sixers to be a dynasty for years to come.
