2. Mike Scott

Last summer, it seemed like Mike Scott was everywhere. Whether he was taking pictures with fans on the streets, serving ice cream to little kids, or getting into fistfights with Eagles fans, we quickly learned that Mike Scott doesn’t have a sheepish bone in his body. His presence online and in person never went away, but when the season began, his jumpshot did.

Brought in for his three-point shooting and toughness, he was traded from the L.A. Clippers, along with Tobias Harris and Boban Marjanovic, for Landry Shamet, Mike Muscala, Wilson Chandler, and future draft picks. As soon as the balls were rolled out in October, we all noticed Scott’s struggles. At one point, his shot seemed as likely to go in as Philip Seymour Hoffman’s character in Along Came Polly. I can just imagine the scene with Hoffman’s supreme delusion in a pick-up game with Ben Stiller —  “Let it rain!” Brick.

Popularity, tattoos, and tough talk won’t earn you favor in a town like Philly if you don’t produce. Not even for Mike Scott.
