38th pick

The Sixers selected Kyrylo Fesenko with the 38th pick, but they dealt the center for Herbert Hill, the 55th. Hill never played in the NBA and Fesenko was a low-end backup for five seasons. Clearly, Philly could have done better with their last pick of the 2007 draft.

More from The Sixer Sense

Of the players drafted in 2007 after the 38th pick (not Gasol), there are only two players available as viable options. Center Aaron Gray is one option, but point guard Ramon Sessions is the better player of the two. Gray was backup for most of his seven-year career and Session was a low-end starter/quality backup point guard for his career.

There are two undrafted players to consider in Anthony Tolliver and Gary Neal. Neal was a sharpshooter during his seven-season career and Tolliver is a stretch-forward. Tolliver isn’t only the better option of the undrafted players, but of the remaining players drafted as well because of his longevity.

Tolliver is the only active player on this slide. His ability to stretch the floor has helped the power forward stay in the NBA. This season, he’s played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, and Memphis Grizzlies. To say he’s a journeyman is an understatement as he’s played for 10 teams 12 seasons. He has career averages of 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds, while converting 37.3 percent of his 3-pointers.

The Philadelphia 76ers should have left the 2007 NBA Draft with Marc Gasol, Wilson Chandler, Carl Landry, and Anthony Tolliver. Instead, they only left it with Thaddeus Young and Jason Smith.
