Philadelphia 76ers to lose key member of front office to Chicago Bulls
It appears that the Philadelphia 76ers are going to lose a key member of their front office to the Chicago Bulls.
When the Chicago Bulls were remaking their front office, it became that clear that the Philadelphia 76ers‘ Marc Eversley was a candidate for their general manager (GM) position. According to Adrain Wojnarowski of ESPN, Eversley’s agreed to become the Bulls’ new GM.
There’s a lot to dissect with this news. The first is that Eversley will be working under Chicago’s new executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas. On top of that, Eversley will be the first African American GM in Bulls franchise history.
Eversley has influenced the Sixers’ personal decisions, such as the scouting of Matisse Thybulle, according to Keith Pompey of Philly.com. Eversley’s background scouting (per Pompey) should be positive for the Bulls who are in the middle of a rebuild. Eversley’s going to helping Karnisovas decide how to mold this Bulls roster with a lot of young talent and potential.

Coby White has legit potential as a scoring point guard in the NBA. Zach LaVine is a legit scorer and would be a nice number two option for a contending team. Otto Porter Jr. is a versatile small forward who’s on a bad contract. They have a duo of young big men in Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr. that have the potential to be a good one-two punch as a frontcourt pair. Kris Dunn isn’t a bad backup point guard either.
There’s no doubt that Eversley will have his hands full reshaping that Bulls roster, but his departure will leave a hole in the 76ers front office. It will be interesting how Philly’s GM Elton Brand will compensate for losing Eversley. Brand could either hire/promote someone to fill the void or redistribute Eversley’s responsibilities among the remaining staff.
It’s nice to see that Eversley’s getting a chance to be a main figurehead in an organization and the Philadelphia 76ers have their options in how to move forward from his departure.
