1. Christmas Day

In the first Christmas Day game played in Philadelphia in over 30 years, the 76ers shined. Joel Embiid put on an MVP display in front of a national audience. The Sixers seemingly couldn’t miss from deep and the team had arrived.

Embiid did everything in this game. He filled the box score with 31 points and 11 rebounds. But his presence was felt even more so inside a different box. The paint was his. The reigning NBA MVP, who usually feasts on defenders in the paint, was shut down. Embiid absorbed hit after hit and played stonewall defense to help the Sixers craft a 21-point halftime advantage.

Joel Embiid was not the only player with a big performance. Tobias Harris sunk five triples, both Josh Richardson and Furkan Korkmaz added four more. Ben Simmons put up a whopping 14 assists to go along with his 15 points.

The 76ers gave their fans the best Christmas day gift possible — hope. They dominated the team that they were built to beat. It was the first matchup of the season between the two squads and the Sixers showed why they deserve to be one of the favorites in the east.
