Our Philadelphia 76ers podcast returns.

We’re baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

After a lengthy hiatus due to a number of scheduling issues and the general happenings of life, The Sixer Sense Podcast is back — and back for good. We plan to make this a weekly podcast, where you can find all your Philadelphia 76ers needs packed into one insightful, entertaining show. We hope you’re here for the ride.

This time around, Christopher Kline and Lucas Johnson talk at length about our updated Ranking the Sixers project. With the COVID-19 pandemic in full force, we decided to revisit our rankings from before the season. Eight writers contributed to the final average.

Christopher and Lucas discuss their own personal lists, as well as the biggest discrepancies between them. They also discuss the biggest changes from the preseason to the present, including the meteoric rise of Shake Milton, Al Horford‘s fall from grace, and the middling season of Mike Scott.

After a rundown of roster, the discussion turns to

Ben Simmons

, with a focus on

Jackie MacMullan’s recent ESPN profile

. If you haven’t already, we highly suggest you read it — MacMullan is the best of the best.

In the profile, Simmons spoke candidly about his basketball mindset and his desire to, at some point, shoot threes. He even hinted at a potential increase in three-point volume as soon as this season, though Christopher and Lucas are both skeptical of immediate improvement from the All-Star point guard.

The article also features commentary from Simmons’ agent, his high school coach, and Joel Embiid, all of whom spoke supportively and critically of the 6-foot-10 freight train. Christopher and Lucas parse through the comments and dive into what they mean about Simmons on the court.
