2. JOEL EMBIID

Joel Embiid can be larger than life in so many different ways. Whether he’s on social media taking jabs at opponents, or on the court showing off his moves as a three-time All Star, his presence is important for the team on defense and on offense. His numbers have dipped since last year, but when he’s been on the floor, he’s had an impact that gives the Sixers a chance to win every night.

When Brett Brown needs him to post up and play bully-ball, Embiid rolls up his sleeves on the block. When Ben Simmons needs space to drive the lane, Embiid plants himself at the three-point line. Should the Sixers need his rim-protection, Embiid meets opponents at the rim for a stuff, averaging 1.3 blocks a game.

One of the most impactful aspects of his game is his free throw shooting. Embiid is in the top rankings, averaging 8.68 free throws per game. This stat is huge for two reasons: one is that he draws fouls against the other team’s defenders, and the second is that he is an 81 percent shooter from the line.

For the Philadelphia 76ers to be a force in their division, Embiid must continue to impact the game on both sides of the ball. Should he return healthy and in shape for a miracle playoff run, the Sixers will be in a very good place.
