14. KIRA LEWIS JR., Guard, Alabama
The buzz around Kira Lewis Jr. is growing. He’s one of my favorite prospects in this class, and he has a genuine chance to crack the lottery if his pre-draft process is a productive one. He’s lightning quick — probably the fastest player in the class — and boasts a well-rounded skill set to accompany his speed.
Lewis mixes his speed with excellent court vision and feel. He’s a smart playmaker who can run the pick-and-roll and leverage the pressure he puts on the rim. He’s also a much improved shooter, and should have no trouble playing off-ball when necessary. After a quiet freshman season behind Collin Sexton, he evolved into one of college basketball’s premier lead guards. He deserves major credit.
The main concern for Lewis is his slight frame. He’s listed at 170 pounds, and the Russell Westbrooks of the world will bulldoze through him if he can’t bulk up. He can also stand to improve as a finisher. He settles too often for floaters, in part due to his lack of strength.
