What does the future look like for the Philadelphia 76ers power forward that the city of brotherly love once praised and adored?

Where do I even begin with the fan-favorite Mike Scott? The hive, and many others, had high hopes for the emoji tattooed character that impressed the city back in 2018-19. But to say that he fell flat this season would be an understatement. What does his future hold with the Philadelphia 76ers?

There’s no denying that he totally and completely captured the hearts of Sixers fans all around. From sipping a beer after falling courtside to handing out ice cream on the Rocky Steps, Scott basically created a cult within the Sixers fandom. Not only was he a super charismatic guy, but he displayed his talents right when he was traded here.

This season, Scott is averaging 5.7 points, compared to last year’s 7.8. He’s also shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from beyond the arc. There isn’t a huge difference in his play from last season to this season according to the stats, but as I anxiously sat in from of my T.V. this season, I noticed some magic missing from Mike Scott.

I remember way more poor games from Scott than good ones this season. There were 12 games this season where he went scoreless… and that wasn’t even for a full season. I clenched my fists whenever Brett Brown threw him into games. He averaged 17.8 minutes this season, compared to the 24 from the previous year.

The reason his time on the court was reduced was simple: his shot seemed impaired. Every time the ball left his hands, Sixers fans knew it was a mistake for him to even attempt any shots. Most times, fans want their players to keep shooting to get out of ruts, but with Scott, it seemed like a never-ending cycle.

Now, I know that there was a lot of negativity that I just threw out there, but overall I do think that Mike Scott is a good player for the Philadelphia 76ers to keep. If he can regain his skill from the previous season and come back from the hiatus refreshed, I think that he’d be a significant asset for the Sixers going forward.

We need the Mike Scott from the 2018-19 season now more than ever.
