With thighs that resemble tree trunks, it’s not difficult to pick Patrick Williams out on screen. He’s an imposing 6-foot-8 — the type of player whose remarkable physical traits alone warrant intrigue. And, while Williams isn’t the most explosive athlete, he does bring a number of intriguing skills to the table.

Williams should aptly defend multiple positions. The Nets are slim at the four spot and could use some size in the rotation next to Kevin Durant. Hard-nosed on-ball and instinctual off-ball, Williams can leap into passing lanes and wander over for weak-side blocks. He plays hard and always makes his presence felt.

On the offensive end, there’s a lot to like as well. He can aptly space the floor, he’s an efficient finisher at the rim, and his mid-range game was a hit at FSU. His decision-making will need to improve, but Williams is great value at 20.
