The Nuggets have depth at every position, so there’s no clear need to address. Josh Green makes sense as both an upside play and an on-court fit — someone who can slide into minutes on the wing as necessary while coming along slowly behind Denver’s more seasoned players.

Green is arguably the best athlete in the draft. At 6-foot-6, he’s an explosive athlete who frequently plays above the rim. While not the most polished offensive weapon, Green should do damage as a cutter and a spot-up shooter. In a lineup featuring Nikola Jokic — someone who can find cutters and shooters as well as anyone — Green should have opportunities to shine.

The core of Green’s appeal as a prospect is his defense. Even if the offense takes time, he should immediately contribute as a high-level athlete who can cover ground, play lockdown on-ball defense, and make good use of his immense physical gifts. A 6-foot-10 wingspan and elite-level explosiveness bode well for Green’s upside in the NBA.
