Another surprise prospect to emerge out of Texas Tech, Jahmi’us Ramsey is firmly in the first-round discussion. He’s one of the most confident shot-makers in this class — someone who will fire from anywhere on the floor, and someone who scores in a variety of different ways.
The Knicks need firepower more than anything. Someone who can come in an not only space the floor, but aid in generating offense — even if only for himself — could bring a nice change of pace. Ramsey has point guard potential, but he needs to become a more well-rounded decision-maker before such a role is feasible.
Ramsey has a lot to learn when it comes to reading the game. He’s a black hole far too often and he certainly won’t solve New York’s overwhelming need for a distributor. In the end, it’s his potential as a shot-maker — perhaps in a sixth man, spark-plug role — that earns Ramsey this spot.
