Looking at the Philadelphia 76ers’ past and present.
In this week’s episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast, Lucas Johnson and Christopher Kline are joined by special guest — and the third member of our podcast team — Uriah Young. The trio discusses a wide range of topics old and new, from potential quarantine partners to an all-time Philadelphia 76ers draft.
The episode starts in the present, with Lucas, Christopher, and Uriah all selecting one ideal quarantine partner from the Sixers roster. Age differences, hobbies, and the general intrigue of each player is brought up. Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Mike Scott, and Matisse Thybulle are among the names mentioned.
Following a brief discussion about quarantine, the conversation turns to the current state of ‘The Process’. Did it work? Can the Sixers presently contend? Where did things go wrong? All three questions — and more — are part of an in-depth conversation about Sam Hinkie’s shortchanged masterplan.
Eventually, the conversation arrives at Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Lucas, Christopher, and Uriah provide insight on the duo’s fit, the roster around them, and whether or not their future together is (or should be) certain. Essentially, it comes down to whether or not Embiid and Simmons can make it work long-term.
The episode finishes with an all-time Sixers draft. The order is snaked — Uriah, then Lucas, then Christopher, then vice versa — and each “GM” is tasked with building the best starting five possible. It’s safe to say all three rosters have some firepower.
Stay tuned for a future article in which we divulge bench pieces. We will also go into more depth on the picks made and the thought processes behind them. You can expect it in the near future.
A special thanks to Uriah for joining the podcast. As mentioned, he is the third member of our crew and has done wonderful work on the technical side of things. You can follow him on Twitter and read his content on the site.
