Al Horford

Being a five-time All-Star and a respected veteran doesn’t excuse Al Horford has had one of the worst seasons of his NBA career. It’s been clear that the Philadelphia 76ers and Horford haven’t been a good fit together.

While he’s earned the moniker of a stretch-big, he hasn’t been able to live up to that title this season. Horford’s only shot 33.7 percent from downtown and is only averaging 12.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.

Horford’s not washed up yet despite losing a step this season. He’s shown flashes this season of what has made him a top-tier center in years past. He needs to show more than just flashes though. After multiple months off, Horford should be well-rested for the playoffs. Being well-rested should help him play at his peak for a long stretch despite being past his prime.

He needs to prove he can play quality minutes at the center position, even if that means being the backup. If he does, he obviously helps the Sixers during the postseason and possibly in the offseason. The 76ers may still decide the move on from the center and having a strong postseason run will help Philly in any trade talks including the 34-year-old center.
