Ben Simmons has a bright future with the Philadelphia 76ers.

There’s little doubt that Ben Simmons is going to have a bright future with the Philadelphia 76ers. He’s one of two franchise players on the roster and even in a worst-case scenario, it seems highly improbable that he won’t be on the team for the next four to five years at bare minimum.

Simmons is already a two-time All-Star, former Rookie of the Year, and he’s arguably the most versatile defender in the whole NBA. It also helps that he’s a 6-foot-10 point guard. His size and athletism which makes his ceiling pretty high.

The only reason that he’s not a bonafide superstar yet has been his unwillingness to expand his shooting outside of the paint. This of course, hurts his pairing with superstar center Joel Embiid and the Sixers ability to get the most out of their roster. Despite his lack of a jumpshot, he’s still averaging 16.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, and 2.1 steals.

Let’s be clear, his unwilling to take jumpers won’t cause the 76ers to trade him. Worst-case scenario is that he becomes the team’s point-forward instead of point guard. His rookie extension will also kick at the beginning of next season and he will be making about $170 million over five years.

Not only is contract massive moving forward, he has a much more modern skill set. In the event that Philly decides that they can’t make Simmons and Embiid work out as a duo, Embiid is the one more likely to be traded.

The future looks bright for Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers. If he starts taking jumpshots it gets even brighter, but if not, it’s still a postive future.
