NBA Draft 2020: Big Board 3.0
18. SADDIQ BEY / WING / VILLANOVA
Few players fit the traditional 3-and-D mold better than Saddiq Bey, a rangy 6-foot-8 wing who thrived on both sides of the ball for Villanova this season. Bey can aptly defend multiple positions, whether he’s bodying bigger players in the post or sliding his feet on the perimeter. He was also one of college basketball’s most efficient three-point shooters.
Bey doesn’t have a ton of variety on offense, but his remarkable 45 percent mark from deep is the sign of an NBA-ready skill. He isn’t totally useless elsewhere either. He can attack closeouts, make unselfish reads as a passer, and handle the ball fairly well in low-pressure situations.
There are concerns about Bey’s athleticism at the next level. His versatility relies more on intelligence and positioning than sheer athletic prowess. He’s not explosive, nor is he particularly fleet of foot. Regardless, he fills too valuable a role to drop much lower than this.
