6. DEVIN VASSELL / WING / FLORIDA STATE
A steady riser throughout his sophomore season, Devin Vassell is thoroughly in the top-10 conversation. He’s another wing who fits snuggly in the 3-and-D archetype, which will automatically pique the interest of most teams. In fact, he’s especially good in both those specific areas.
Vassell was an extremely efficient three-point shooter this season. He has smooth mechanics spotting up, and he’s also capable of attacking closeouts, probing the mid-range, and making passes on the move. He’s far from a go-to scorer, but he can leverage his gravity as a shooter in a variety of ways.
Where Vassell shines the most, however, is defense. As both a turnover magnet and a weak-side rim protector, Vassell has a thirst for defensive counting stats. He patrols large areas of the court and uses his 6-foot-10 wingspan to its fullest potential. Beyond the accumulation of steals and blocks, he’s also great at the point of attack, walling off ball-handlers and using his length as a disruptive force. He’s one of the better defenders on the board, and unlike the aforementioned Okoro, he spaces the floor.
