NBA Draft 2020: Mock Draft 4.0
The uncertain future of Bogdan Bogdanovic could lead Sacramento to target more depth in the backcourt. Tyrese Maxey is a savvy choice — a hard-nosed winner who hails from the same alma mater as team leader De’Aaron Fox.
Maxey’s freshman campaign was a bumpy ride, but he’s still a talented shot-maker and a capable secondary creator on the perimeter. At 6-foot-3, he’s on the shorter end of the spectrum for two-guards, but he defends the point of attack well and is never short on hustle. He’s not an elite athlete, but he’s crafty and possesses a wealth of touch inside the arc.
Shooting is a swing skill for Maxey — he hit roughly 29 percent of his 3-pointers this season — but his success in high school, coupled with his comfort scoring inside the arc, bode well. I’m a believer in his jump shot, and the intangibles are hard to pass up — especially for a Kings organization high on culture-setters.
