The fastest end-to-end player on the board — maybe. One of the most well-rounded point guards in college basketball — certainly. There’s a lot to like about Kira Lewis Jr., who quietly broke out as a sophomore at Alabama. The Heat like plus athletes who happen to have high characters. Lewis fits the bill.
The future of Goran Dragic hangs in limbo, and while there’s a lot to like about Kendrick Nunn, Lewis is more of a point guard in the traditional sense. He can operate as the lead ball-handler, create out of the pick-and-roll, and comfortably lead the offense when Jimmy Butler sits.
Lewis is a quick-twitch athlete who has no problem bursting inside and getting to the rim. He’s equally thrilling in transition. He was also an above-average 3-point shooter this season, and his feel for the game deserves more credit. This is a tremendous value pick for Miami.
