NBA Draft 2020: Mock Draft 4.0
Utah whiffed on the Mike Conley trade and need to focus on long-term options at point guard. Theo Maledon would have the luxury of playing behind Conley for a season with a long-term focus of potentially becoming the Jazz’s starting point guard. It’s not a bad situation.
Maledon isn’t the most explosive athlete, but the Jazz have plenty of explosiveness in the form of Donovan Mitchell. Maledon is a good 3-point shooter, a slippery playmaker in the pick-and-roll, and a potentially versatile defender on the perimeter. 6-foot-4 with a 6-foot-9 wingspan, Maledon’s frame is as good as it gets at point guard.
The Jazz already have plenty of length on the roster, so Maledon adds another layer to the cake. His intelligence, his pedigree — he’s trained under Tony Parker in France — and his shooting touch all bode well for what Utah needs. Plus the Gobert-French connection is a bonus.
