Philadelphia 76ers: Furkan Korkmaz channels Charles Barkley on golf course

The Philadelphia 76ers’ wing isn’t exactly the second coming of Tiger Woods.

Furkan Korkmaz showed up to Orlando with longer hair, the persona of a suave European movie star, and a repugnant golf swing. The Philadelphia 76ers took to the golf course on Wednesday in the ongoing quest for entertainment inside the NBA’s Orlando bubble.

It appears as if this was Korkmaz’s first time on the course. Or any course.

Glenn Robinson III was kind enough to provide video evidence of Korkmaz’s affront to the sport.

Looks like Charles Barkley has competition for the title of “NBA’s Worst Golf Swing.” I haven’t golfed in years, and I’m pretty sure my swing is the equivalent of Stephen Curry’s jumper when compared to Korkmaz’s junky, half-armed tap. Speaking of Curry, Korkmaz might want to seek his guidance on the course when this is all over. The Warriors star is a quasi-professional at this point.

On a slightly more serious note, the Sixers have found themselves well entertained inside the bubble. Ben Simmons and Kyle O’Quinn have hounded the local fish population, Matisse Thybulle is preparing for Oscar contention, and a solid chunk of the team appears to have hit the golf course together.

In a separate video, Josh Richardson was out on the course — not just the driving range — with a few notable teammates.

Richardson introduced Al Horford as “the captain,” before moving on to the “secret weapon” (Shake Milton) and “the rook” (Matisse Thybulle). He dubbed himself “the anchor.” All apt labels, in this writer’s opinion. We can only hope these four were more coordinated with the clubs than Furkan.

The Sixers’ first scrimmage game is roughly a week around the corner. Philadelphia and Memphis do battle on July 24. Health permitting, basketball is right around the corner. Golf videos will soon turn to basketball videos.
