In the past, Philadelphia 76ers acquired an All-Time Great from the Golden State Warriors.

Out of the trades reviewed in these series of articles, the best trade between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Golden State Warriors is easily the best one of this series thus far. It’s arguably one of the best trades in franchise history as a whole.

The two franchises have made 12 trades in their history starting in 1963 and with the most recent one coming at the 2020 NBA Trade Deadline when they acquired Glenn Robinson III and Alec Burks for three future second round picks.

There have been some big names that have been traded between the two clubs. However, there is one name that should stand out more than all the others. In fact, the biggest name traded is one of the best players to ever play the game of basketball.

The best trade ever between Philly and Golden State was…

That’s right, the 76ers acquired Wilt Chamberlain in 1965. While Chamberlain wasn’t the other-worldly basketball player during his time in Philly, he was still an elite player. During his Sixers tenure, he averaged 27.6 points and 23.9 rebounds. More importantly, he won his first championship in 1967 as a member of the 76ers during time.

More from History

What was very impressive about this deal was that the 76ers only gave up three players with only one All-Star appearance between the three of them for a player who was named an All-Star 13 times in 14 seasons.

Lee Shaffer was a good player but only played three seasons in his career, Paul Neumann was a solid point guard for the six seasons he played, and Connie Dierking was a journeyman big who only had three really good seasons when he was in his early 30s.
