Sixers vs. Wizards: 3 things I’d like to see
By Abin Thomas
1. More minutes to Alec Burks
Based off his tenure in Golden State, we all know Alec Burks still has it in him, having had 13 games in which he scored more than 20 points whilst shooting just above 40 percent from the field. He is still a very decent player, who is capable of getting some much needed buckets for the Sixers.
However, he has been heavily underutilised by Brett Brown since the resumption of the season, playing just 18 minutes in two games. This game against the Wizards, I am expecting to see more minutes from Burks, and less of Raul Neto, who has put on a horror show in the two games he played so far — carelessly turning the ball over on numerous occasions and being more of a liability on the defensive end of the court. Giving more minutes to Burks, will help to increase his confidence so he can be used against some big teams while the main stars receive a breather.
In conclusion, I expect the Sixers to have a quite comfortable win against a team who is in ‘summer camp’ mentality, as they have no hope of making it into playoff contention. There will also be plenty of things to take away from this game, even though it is against a very poor team.
