3 former Philadelphia 76ers have impressed in Disney Bubble

There’s plenty of stories surrounding this current iteration of the Philadelphia 76ers, but for those fans like myself, it’s hard to ignore what former Sixers’ players are doing in the Disney Bubble. Three in particular have been impressive during the NBA restart.

Former Sixers shining at Disney: Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot

The Frenchman was selected by the 76ers back in the 2016 NBA Draft with the 24th overall pick. He showed flashes his first two seasons with Philly but struggled to consistently shoot the ball as he shot 39.0 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from the 3-point line during his Sixers tenure.

His thin frame made it hard for him to fulfill his potential as a defender. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot didn’t really improve during his time with the 76ers and as a result, he was traded with Justin Anderson for stretch big man Mike Muscala.

After bouncing around with Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers (never played a game for the Cavs), the wing found a home with the Brooklyn Nets on a two-way contract. He slowly made his way to the Nets’ regular roster this season and averaged 6.8 points on 36.6 percent from deep.

The Nets entered the Disney Bubble without multiple key players: Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan, Wilson Chandler, Taurean Prince, Nicolas Claxton, and Michael Beasley. This of course gave Luwawu-Cabarrot the chance to shine and boy has he.

He scored 24 points against the Orlando Magic and 26 points against the Milwaukee Bucks shooting a combined 10-15 in those two games. Granted he didn’t do well against the Washington Wizards as he only scored eight points on 3-10 shooting from the field or the Boston Celtics when he four points on 1-5 shooting but still, he’s showing his potential as a former first round pick in the Disney Bubble.
